Have a question? Lucky for you, we’ve answered most of our most frequently asked questions here. Still can’t find what you’re looking for? Give us a call! 503-812-2655

CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT: Normal check-in is any time after 3:30 pm and before 9:00 pm. If you expect to arrive later, please let our office know. Our phone number is 503-368-5858. Check out is at 11:00.

CHARGES: Rates are based on double occupancy.  Additional adults or children over the age of ten will be charged an added $10 per night. The Captain’s Quarters (Room # 12) sleeps ten with no additional charges. You must be 21 or older to book a room. You will be asked to provide a valid government or state-issued photo ID at check-in, and a credit card.

  • Room-side parking is FREE. Rooms 1-11 are located on the ground floor.                            Room 12 is up a steep staircase with parking nearby.
  • Wi-Fi is FREE – Ask at the front desk for a current Wi-Fi password.
  • Direct TV Cable
  • We do not have room service but provide towels or linen at guests request. Do not hesitate with any questions. We’re here to help you.
  • Some rooms have jetted tubs: please refrain from using any bath bombs, oils, foaming soaps, or glitter. We provide tub-friendly products for your use.

All rooms are non-smoking. Smoking is allowed outside as long as you are at least 10 feet from the guest rooms. Please be considerate of other guests.

We reserve the right to charge $250 for noncompliance.

Many people are allergic to dogs. To keep the rooms as clean and comfortable for all, pets are not allowed. While we welcome Service Animals, unfortunately, pets, including emotional support animals, are not permitted at our hotel. Service animals are trained working animals, NOT pets.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) defines a service animal as a dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability. Dogs or therapy animals whose function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals according to the ADA, even with a doctor’s note.

We reserve the right to charge $250 for noncompliance.

Please do not clean, process, store or cook fish or crabs in your accommodations. There is a fish cleaning station on our dock for you to utilize.  Please cook seafood outside on the barbecue. And bring a cooler to hold your fish to take home! Freezer space is available for storing your catch.

We reserve the right to charge $250 for noncompliance.

We reserve the right to charge you for damages beyond normal wear and tear, including cleaning fees. Please let us know if something has broken during your stay or you have noticed something that requires our attention. The management reserves the right to charge the guest’s credit card for damage and items that require replacement after the guest’s check-out.

CANCELLATIONS: We are quite small with only 11 rooms in total. Because of our size, cancellations affect us significantly. We appreciate as much notice as you can give us when your plans change.

  • We have a standard 48-hour prior-to-arrival cancellation policy. Please call the hotel directly if you need to change or cancel your reservation. Changes or cancellations made after the cancellation date are subject to penalty.
  • All no shows will be charged for the full length of their stay plus tax.
  • In the unlikely event you must shorten your stay or check-out early, you are responsible for the financial balance of your entire stay.
  • When making a reservation for 4 nights or more and canceled within 5 days, there will be a 1/3 nonrefundable deposit when canceled.

Why is the rooms page showing me no available rooms for my selected date(s)?

Two-night reservations are required on most weekends, with a three-night minimum required for major holiday weekends and during peak season. This may cause our availability calendar to show “No Availability”, even though we might have vacancies. Silly computers! Please call us directly at 503-368-5858.

We’re committed to easy access for everyone

Wheeler on the Bay is committed to making our website as accessible as possible to people with special needs, including those with visual, hearing, cognitive and motor impairments. We have invested a large amount of resources working towards improving the accessibility of our website to ensure we provide equal access to all of our users.

To help us make the Wheeler on the Bay website a positive place for everyone, we’ve been using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user friendly for everyone.

ADA Accessible Units

As required by law for owner-occupied properties that have more than 5 units*, properties with 6 units or more should provide a unit that is reserved for customers with disabilities. The property should clearly identify these units and describe the accessible features in sufficient detail to reasonably permit individuals with disabilities to assess independently whether the given unit meets his or her accessibility needs. When selecting an ADA designated unit, if you do not have accessibility or other disability needs, please click cancel and select another unit unless it is the last unit available. If you do not meet the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements for this unit and it is not the last unit available, Wheeler on the Bay reserves the right to change your reservation to another unit without your permission to accommodate customers with qualifying disabilities.

*According to federal law as found on https://www.ada.gov/taman3.html, places of lodging with 5 or less units and have the owner living on the property are exempt from having to have an ADA unit for those with disabilities. Religious organizations are exempt from title III requirements. Historical properties may also be exempt from certain aspects of title III requirements, but property owners need to verify based on local and federal requirements.

All other properties may be subject to title III requirements.
