IF you are driving from Portland:

It is advised to take Hwy 26 all the way to the coast and then head south on 101 towards Cannon Beach. The GPS always says to take Hwy 53. Indeed it is ten minutes faster; yet, Hwy 53 is a horrible twisty road that is not very pleasant for those who experience motion sickness. But for you who enjoy curvy roads and nature, Hwy 53 is a beautiful daytime road. However, at night, it can be hazardous with many deer and elk on the road, and in early spring, you will run over frogs. Once you get to Wheeler, we are just across from The Old Wheeler Hotel and Rorvik Street. Turn RIGHT towards the water onto an unnamed private road. Now you have arrived!

  • Check-in is available starting at 3:00 PM. If you plan to arrive after 6:00 PM, please let us know ahead of time so we can arrange a seamless, contact-free late check-in for you.
  • Check-out is by 11:00 AM. This allows our dedicated housekeeping team the necessary time to meticulously clean our uniquely styled rooms to our pristine standards before the next guests arrive.

To accommodate guests with severe respiratory allergies and maintain our exceptionally high standards of cleanliness, Wheeler on the Bay Lodge is strictly pet-free. e 

While we welcome Service Animals, unfortunately, pets, including emotional support animals, are not permitted at our hotel. Service animals are trained working animals, NOT pets. 

All rooms are non-smoking. Smoking is allowed outside as long as you are at least 10 feet from the guest rooms. Please be considerate of other guests.

We reserve the right to charge $250 for noncompliance.

Complimentary use of our on-site single and tandem kayaks is an exclusive perk for guests staying with us for two or more consecutive nights.

  • What we provide: We supply the kayaks, paddles, life jackets, basic safety instructions, and launch assistance directly from our shoreline.
  • Safety guidelines: Because your safety is our absolute priority, all kayak use is strictly subject to favorable weather, calm river currents, daylight hours, and the proper use of provided life jackets.

Yes! Guests are welcome to bring their own fishing or recreational boats and moor them right on our private dock during their stay for just $15 per night. Because dock space is limited, please contact our front office directly prior to your arrival to confirm boat slip availability.

We love that our guests enjoy fishing and crabbing on Nehalem Bay! To keep our guest rooms smelling fresh and clean for everyone, cleaning, processing, or cooking raw seafood inside the rooms is strictly prohibited.

  • For cleaning: Please make full use of our professional, clean fish-cleaning station located directly on our private dock.
  • For cooking: Ask our front office for one of our private barbecue grill kits or crab pot so you can cook up your fresh crabs and fish out on our spacious waterfront decks!
